Review 8/29/2007
We hired Meathead for a local move in 4/07. We hired them for two different days: one to help pack and one for the actual move.

Here are the pros:
The owner came to the house for a quote which was great, as most companies won't do that.
The presentation and description seemed thorough. They were on time on move day.
All workers were respectable and courteous.

Here are the cons:
More than once we explained which items we wished for them to pack or what we didn't want moved, etc. to the team leader, and he failed to turn around and relay that the everyone else; so some items that were to stay at the first property got packed. They then had to be unpacked. They did not shave that time off our bill.
Also, there was one worker who never seemed to know what to do; so spent more time asking what to do instead of working.
The entire moving crew got lost en route to the destination property, and we lost about 1 1/2 hours of daytime to unpack. We had to just stand around waiting. The owner tried to blame that on us as the crew followed our route (by choice). They however didn't account for the detour on the 5 freeway for trucks not having an offramp for Balboa Boulevard. A MOVING COMPANY SHOULD MAP A JOB BEFORE THEY ARRIVE AND KNOW WHERE THEY ARE GOING!!!!!!
A lamp that was (obviously) broken by them was not brought to our attention.
They claim that their guys always "run" when not carrying something. Not true.
Toward the end of the job, the last remaining boxes were just dumped in the garage instead of being delivered to the rooms indicated on them.
The company provides and evaluation form which asks the customer if they think tipping the work crew is appropriate, and if so, how much would we like to tip. Didn't appreciate that pressure. With what they charged us, the tips were inclusive!!!!
A few weeks after the job was completed, the contracts finalized, and all monies had been paid, the owner called us and asked for approximately $300 to $400 more, stating he had reviewed the paperwork and decided we owed more money. We then audited the paperwork and felt we had already overpaid. At that point, he dropped it.
During the sales pitch, the owner mentioned how unscrupulous some moving companies can be by charging more than they promised, etc. However, we felt that they attempted to do the same thing.
