Barefoot Pools has built 3 pools for us since 2002. Each pool was unique based on our family needs at the time. The first was very basic: rectangular shape, slide for the kids, above ground hot tub with rock waterfall. The second was more free-form with a vanishing edge, in ground hot tub. The third, built in Spring 2011, is an ultimate design, Ian Charnley has a gift of really listening and taking note of all the details of our requests. Some clients may want to leave everything up to the builder and can certainly trust Ian and his team to do a great job, but we like to give input every step of the way and Barefoot pools took our rough pencil sketches and turned them into breathtaking results! The initial design was easy to comprehend via their realistic computerized graphics, then every step of construction exceeded our expectations in quality and craftmanship. Ian and his partner Gary are perfectionists! Everyday an owner or key manager was on sight, if we had concerns they answered them immediately. We had the flexibility of changing the design as we went along, but we really only did that to add in some luxuries we hadn't originally thought of. The whole process was SO exciting! What did I worry about? The noise the pumps might make outside my bedroom window...and guess what...I can't hear them at all! This design included: (Starting with creating a foundation on our steep hillside) a Vanishing edge pool and hot tub, custom designed seating in hot tub, swim-up bar in pool, pebble-sheen surfacing, ultimate patio concrete design and custom staining, outdoor kitchen, 5 in-pool umbrella slots, 4 fire bowl waterfalls, fire pit, golf putting green complete with 5 holes, two sandtraps, custom rock wall with built-in bench, and even a pitching green about 40 feet away. Landscape included 6 giant olive trees, DG paths, and a custom pad for our favorite swing cut into the hillside. So many people complain that pool builders and landscapers have a hard time finishing all the details of their projects, not Barefoot! They finished in a reasonable time and every detail was complete, they even came back to perfect some little things that they cared about. From dirt to permit on this HUGE project was about 4.5 months. We are thrilled and our visiting friends refer to our home as a "resort" where they come for "luxury weekends." Barefoot spoiled us, now we never want to leave the house!
