Good experience, email support may seem slow.
I'm updating my review on April 12th. * are edited areas. Overall my experience with EyeBuyDirect has actually been nice. Initially I tried to do an "almost purchase" to give myself a quote based on what I'd want to purchase. Sadly I didn't receive a final confirmation page before making a purchase, and accidentally went through a full purchase. I know that sounds silly, but usually I can estimate shipping that way. There was no way to "get a quote" with their site otherwise. I emailed their support and had a reply within a couple days, which wasn't bad. Sadly I didn't get an immediate refund. I had to wait a day or two longer, contacted them again more assertively, and finally got an immediate refund. With that said, they weren't bad, but probably understaffed, have tons of emails, and not able to reply immediately. But that's 90% of today's companies, right? __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Now, nearly two weeks ago I made a real purchase. I bought the Janet Tortoise frames, the basic bundle that includes various coatings and polycarbonate lenses. Today I received my glasses. The packaging isn't bad, but very economy. With that said, it comes with a hard plastic case, and the glasses are wrapped in the large (hand size) cleaning cloth. For a $6 pair of frames it's pretty nice, though probably the same sturdiness as both of my Wal-Mart sunglasses. I had probably spent nearly $28 in total. Considering my 7 year old Vogue glasses cost me about $200, I think this is a great trade-off. They were durable and have lasted awhile, but are much heavier due to the lenses. I wouldn't feel there would be any harm done if I had to replace these. It's only $30, right? When I tried to contact EyeBuyDirect about the shipping number, I received a reply a couple days after my purchase. I did find out on my own that they use a UPS/US Post Office partnership feature, UPS Mail Innovations. So at first you need to use a universal package tracking site, or look up the UPS MI page until your glasses are delivered to your local post office. *My guess is that they receive so many emails per day that they actually ship faster than they can get to emails. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Since I'm only using this pair for whenever I'm not wearing contacts, I'm not going to get heavy use out of them. It'll just be when I wake up, get ready for bed, or on days my eyes are too irritated for contacts (like this spring or fall!). My old Vogue glasses will be a nice backup. Since my experience was pretty nice, I'm already planning on buying another pair. If I'm able to update my review or post a new one, I will with my second experience. I figure a month will be good to judge these frames and post a review on their site, but I have heard rumors that they remove negative reviews. Thankfully I've had a good experience. *My gut tells me that lots of people have left very unhelpful, angry reviews. Many negative reviews I see here are 3 years old and sound like they were impatient people. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ *Edit* I also want to state that I love how these polycarbonate lenses were both at a great price from the company, and how light the glasses are. Sure, I got a $6 frame and opted for that bundle with all the coatings, but the pair I had locally several years back are heavier. I'm only trying to get used to how the earpieces fit over my ears. The fit is snug (it's a small, I'm small) but I was pleased with how easily I picked out frames that look natural on my. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Some notes for others who may read the negative reviews: My purchase and shipping to my house only took me 9 days. This is a standard wait I've had when ordering my glasses elsewhere. If it takes longer, consider whether or not they're having a large volume of orders. I would give it up to a full month before truly worrying. For myself, I ordered April 2nd, overall processing took 4 days, and it shipped on the 8th. I received my glasses today, April 11th. That's 9 days. I'd say that's pretty good, right? I do suggest that if you need to contact them, call first. I never needed to, but next time I have a serious question I'll call them instead of email.
