Beware Of FHIA
Unfortunately, I chose FHIA to install my hurricane windows in December 2020. It is now July 2021, and the job is still incomplete. Not to mention we have a hurricane brewing in the Atlantic. When the windows initially came in March of 2021, which was a very long time to wait, my wife and I were excited. The installers started the installation, and everything was going fine until they told me 4 of my windows were not measured correctly and would need to be reordered. I was thinking to myself, "not a big deal" mistakes happen. Then they said it's it would take another two months for the windows to come in. Wow!!! An additional two months. I was disappointed, but again, mistakes happen. Two months go by, and no calls from the company. My wife finally says, "I think we need to give them a call." So I call the company, and the representative that answers the phone says, "oh yeah, your windows have been sitting here for a couple of weeks now. Would you like to schedule an appointment for installation". I'm thinking, "what the F%#8 do you think, lady", but obviously I don't say what I'm thinking, although I probably should have. So I schedule the appointment, which is another two weeks out, and after that long wait, the day comes for delivery. Again, my wife and I are excited. We can finally remove these stickers and tags from the windows and doors; that's god-awful ugly when you're looking at the house from the outside. It's no window treatment done to the windows either because we need to wait for the installation and final inspection to be complete. We wanted to add some nice French shutters. The installers put in three windows, and they finally take out the largest picture window in our house. I'm sitting at my desk working, and my phone rings. The operations manager told me that the largest window in my home, which has two parts because of the size, was measured wrong. Here we go again!!! he says, "we need to reorder the window again, and it can take 5-6 weeks." Ok, now this is ridiculous! You mean to tell me that you measured the same window wrong, twice. Of course, they blame the manufacturer, but at this point, I don't care who's fault it is. It's May 2021, and hurricane season starts in a few weeks. That's why I ordered the windows when I did to protect my home and, more importantly, my family during storm season. At that point, what could I do but be upset yet again. Beginning to mid-June 2021, I get a call from the company to schedule the window installation. Finally, we can get this window put in and move on. I schedule my appointment (I don't remember the exact day), but the next day I get a call back from the same rep saying, "I apologize, but the window is broken, and we cannot install the window." Now I'm furious. What is the issue with this company and/or its manufacturers. I call my original sales guy and say, "Hey, we need to do something about this" I already had my house painted, and the holes where my aluminum shutters used to go are sealed, and I have no way of protecting the window in the event of a storm. To make it worse, when I looked closer at the original window that the installers put back in after they figured out the window was the wrong size, I noticed the screws were hanging out and not tightened. The sales guy and I agreed that they would at the very least install the broken window to provide some protection just in case of a storm. We scheduled that appointment for June 24th. On that day, no one shows up to install anything. I then received a call from the same operations manager saying the original loan documents signed in December are now expired. We need to pull your credit again and have you sign a new loan. Also, the window that we will replace will not be in until October 2021. When I asked what happened to the installers who were supposed to install the cracked window for protection that morning, he claimed he didn't know anything about the window or where it was, and he would find out and call me back. To this day haven't heard anything from him. So now a hurricane is in the Atlantic, so I call back today and ask about the cracked window, and the operations manager tells me that the window was thrown away by the warehouse because it was broken. They can't do anything to help me. So, in a nutshell, they wanted me to pay them for a cracked window and sign all the documents as if the job is complete and trust them to call me back in October 2021 to reinstall a fully functional window. FHIA is by far the worst customer experience I have dealt with in my eight years in Florida. I would not recommend this company to anyone that is looking for a company that cares about customers. All they want is the money, and that's it. It's more details to this story, and I tried to be as descriptive as possible without writing a book, but if you stuck it out to the end, PLEASE BEWARE!!!!
