I wouldn't recommend working with freecreditscore.com
|
I gave my credit card number to freecreditscore.com in order to get my credit score. I knew that I would have to cancel my membership within seven days in order to avoid getting charged. This was all clearly indicated up front.
What I didn't know is that it's extremely easy to end up ordering a separate (and I guess more detailed) report for $31.95. The site didn't make it very clear that I was in the process of ordering THAT report, and I didn't know that's what I'd done until I saw the charge on my bank account the next day.
I called the company to ask for a refund, but my experience with trying to resolve this over the phone with freecreditscore.com was not positive. The customer care agent told me that there were no managers available to talk to me when I requested to escalate the issue, and honestly - how many times have we heard that? She offered me a partial refund, but I wasn't satisfied. I didn't want that report in the first place, and I felt the site was somewhat misleading. I told them I would contact the BBB, and she told me to go ahead and do so.
I contacted the BBB, and through their mediation process I was able to get the rest of my refund. I will give freecreditscore.com credit (ha ha) for working with the BBB to resolve this issue and refund me the rest of my money. I just wish they would have been more willing to resolve it with me when I called, instead of telling me it was my fault. I'd also suggest to them that they update their site.
Thanks goes to the BBB/Trustlink for resolving this transaction issue for me!
Two stars: It would've been more if they would've just worked with me, but it would've been less had they not completed my refund. I also can't believe that people on here give a 5-star review because they got a refund from a company that is shady to begin with. I can't believe Experian is a trusted credit agency when they're involved in this sort of malarkey.
