Review 5/28/2011
If I had a choice I’ve give Neopets a 0 stars rating; the Neopets team is made up of incompetent prideful idiots. Their customer service is downright atrocious; their site should be avoided at all costs unless you want to be treated like a child with temper problems. Since Viacom bought Neopets, things have begun to go downhill as you can see by the other reviews on this site and it appears like soon they’re may hit rock bottom.
The Altador Cup is a once year, month-long site event. The Neopets Team (TNT) turned the main event, Yooyuball, into something horrible. The result was a game which will not even load on a two month old laptop, has poor controls, a game which excludes people with arm disabilities & left-handed people, introduced a week before the beginning of the Altador Cup, not even beta-tested.
The original game of Yooyuball, was easy to load, and could be played by people with older computers and people with arm disabilities since it was mouse-controlled. Because you have to play Yooyuball 2,000 times in a month to get the top rank, it was easy and quick enough to play. It’s supposed to be a two minute long game but now, because of the extreme lagging, it takes 6-7 minutes to play one game. Mistakes are made by all people and businesses, but when 3200+ people signed a petition saying they want the original version of the Yooyuball, when your Facebook page has been bombarded with more than 3,000 complaints, when you have people constantly faxing and phoning you with complaints for days, people revoking their premium services, refusing to buy anything Neopets-related, boycotting the Altador Cup or just quitting the site altogether, I think most businesses would get the point and change the Yooyuball back to its original form, but not Neopets. Instead Neopets decided to ignore the problem; notwithstanding, 25 hours of being ignored and the general outrage still looming large and not close to calming down. After all the outrage and intense disapproval, Neopets decided to send out automated response basically telling us we weren't trying hard enough to adjust to new format and that players should practice more to get better at the new system. Yet, their new version of the Yooyuball is the worst game I and many others have ever played. They even closed their Premium phone-lines early, which stopped paying customers from revoking their service.
Obviously to treat us like children denied their ice-cream did not do anything to mitigate the outrage and frustration of many of the Altador Cup players were expressing. Worse than all their uncooperativeness, they decided to ban people and delete comments from their Facebook page to keep them from continuing to complain. On their own site, they began freezing and silencing some of those who complained repeatedly; even deleting board topics criticizing them. Neopets blatantly broadcasted editorials with “Happy Thoughts” which was full of praise for The Neopets Team simply to divert players attention from their unwillingness to correct their so many are discontent with. I am extremely dissatisfied with Neopets. The only reason I still use Neopets is because leaving would hurt the team I joined for the Altador Cup but I can honestly say that if Neopets does not do anything to correct this new terrible format, I will never use their site again and I will make sure none of my friends do.
So unless a person wants to be treated like a person with no voice and that your opinions don’t count, stay far away from Neopets.
